- Despite Gareth Southgate's suggestions that Trent Alexander-Arnold is not in good form, a quick look at some of the right-back's statistics from this seasons seem to suggest otherwise:
- The stats show Trent has created the most chances of any English right-back in the league this season but he has been unlucky as Liverpool's forwards have lacked the end product.
- Liverpool's No.66 also creates nearly 1 chance per game, with only Reece James (in reduced minutes) averaging more.
- While the fullback's defensive stats do drop a little, they are more than fair for a player who also has so much attacking responsibility on his shoulders.
- Trent's true interceptions (interceptions and blocked passes) are behind only Matty Cash and Aaron Wan-Bissaka's.
- Meanwhile, his true tackles (tackles plus challenges lost plus fouls) are more of an indication that Trent does not put in as many of them - however, his success rate in this department remains high.
- England's loss is Liverpool's gain for now, but The Athletic report that the Trent is very disappointed with the exclusion and will be aiming to do what it takes to get back in time for the Euros in the summer.
