Liverpool fan uses Grealish and Elliott as examples to show how Reds youth recruitment has changed

Here's how u/hyperactiv3hedgehog put in on Reddit:

"Just ended up watching Grealish compilations from 14-15, he was probably 18 back then but from what I could guess he was playing in the midfield instead of further up the pitch.

He is eerily reminiscent of Harvey Elliott, clean first touch, very involved, great at receiving the ball with his back to goal, dropping deep, body shape when playing passes, playing diagonal passes while moving, dribbling, movement and intelligent runs.

"I am starting to see a bit of trend in Liverpool's youth recruitment moving from fast dribbler (Sterling, Kent, Ibe) to this type of player that prioritizes game intelligence and understanding of space movement (esp. off the ball).

"Dropping off and receiving the ball with their back to goal, e.g. Firmino, Solanke (I know he hasn't scored goals but his movement off the ball, aerial dominance, pulling defenders out of position), Minamino.

"Because Harvey's role at Blackburn is more of a facilitator from advanced areas out wide, he doesn't make runs beyond the defensive lines as often as Grealish does yet."

Elliott has 4 goals and 6 assists in 17 games for Blackburn and if he can turn into a player of Jack Grealish's quality, that would be a major coup for Liverpool.
