James Pearce: Curtis Jones and Neco Williams are ready to step up and fill Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne's spots

Liverpool's academy in the past few seasons has produced some amazing talents - Curtis Jones and Neco Williams are expected to be the latest duo who will be called up to the first-team.

During a Q&A session hosted on The Athletic, reliable club reporter James Pearce was asked by a fan: "Do you believe that Curtis Jones and Neco Williams will be given chances to replace Adam Lallana and Clyne once their contracts are up?"

Nathaniel Clyne has not been a part of Liverpool's matchday squad for ages due to his injury layoffs, whereas Lallana is expected to leave Anfield at the end of this season after his contract expires.

Pearce replied positively: "Definitely. Jones and Williams are regarded as ready to step up and fill that void with Lallana and Clyne going.

"Once the title is won I'd expect to see both of those players feature in the final few games. And from what I've been told neither of them will be going out on loan next season. Klopp sees them as very much part of his plans for 2020-21."

19-year-old Jones operates as a midfielder and has a great eye for goal as well as a deadly final pass in his arsenal. Williams is a right-back who has impressed academy coaches and seems set to have a strong future at Liverpool following the footsteps of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There were a few reports which claimed that Jones would be sent out on loan next season - however, it is great to receive this update from Pearce and we hope that the two teenagers can be their best versions when called upon to the first-team.
