Son Heung-min bags hat-trick of offside goals in Spurs defeat

Tottenham Hotspur saw their efforts go to waste as they've been beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa at home. Although the home team kept piling the pressure on, smart defence from Unai Emery's side and occasional saves from Emi Martinez got them three points.

What's interesting is that Son Heung-min actually scored a hat-trick but saw each of his goals disallowed for offside. Those were close calls, but ultimately the referee got it right.

In contrast, Ollie Watkins was precise in timing his run to score the winning goal of the game following a through ball from Youri Tielemans.

Villa are now three points off the league leaders Arsenal, an unbelievable achievement and a mark of progress from Villa. Spurs, in turn, are now four points behind the top.

Next up, Villa travel to the south coast to Bournemouth who have won three of their last four Premier League games. Spurs, now on three defeats in a row, will be tested by Man City at the Etihad.
