'Failed the Pep student final exams': Vincent Kompany goes under pressure from fans

Burnley are having a shocking campaign despite steamrollering the Championship last year. Vincent Kompany's men only have four points from the first 10 games in the Premier League and are now out of the Carabao Cup, following a 3-0 defeat to Everton, fittingly managed by their ex-boss Sean Dyche.

With every new game, Burnley fans are doubting their head coach more and more. Here are some reactions from X.

@_EFCCarlos: "Kompany is Daniel Farke with a baseball cap."

@adam_major1: "Can’t give Kompany another transfer window. £120m spent and we have this shite. Not saying he has to go but we need a director of football in ASAP to take control of transfers."

@rxlfpacked: "Vincent Kompany failed the Pep student final exams, he is NOT a Pep student until further notice."

@rushy_sport: "Dyche vs Kompany has been a total miss match. It's organisation vs disorganisation. It's fight and battling spirit vs weakness and naivety. Kompany gave us one unforgettable season, but there's no question who the better manager is on this evidence."

@BFCIvan: "Pace [Alan Pace, Burnley's chairman] deserves as much blame for this as Kompany does by the way, he’s a lovely man but the way he’s gone about transfers and management has been so naive."

What is going on at Burnley? Part of the reason may be the questionable transfer strategy in the summer. Kompany dispensed with some of the experienced players that got him promoted, replacing them with youngsters.

For example, many Burnley fans are questioning the decision to play the £19m goalkeeper James Trafford instead of Arijanet Muric who only conceded 31 goals in 41 games last season.
