Asia's two-time second-best footballer signs for Jose Mourinho's AS Roma

Jose Mourinho is about to finally add a striker to his vibes-only AS Roma XI.

Sardar Azmoun has landed in Rome for his medical with the club on Friday, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Azmoun finished runner-up twice in the voting for the Best Footballer in Asia: in 2020 and 2021, only losing to Son Heung-min.

Azmoun, 28, was an absolute baller in the Russian League where he was named the Player of the Season two years ago playing for Zenit.

He then moved to Bayer Leverkusen but his German career never took off.

Now he will try to prove he can do it in a top-5 league as he joins on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season that is rumoured to be €12m.
