Jose Mourinho can confirm he was approached by Saudi Arabia in a bid to take over one of their top clubs.
Jose is quoted by Gianluca di Marzio: "This summer, I received two offers from Saudi Arabia: Al Hilal and Al Ahli. I thought about it and even before going to the meeting [with Saudi reps] I told my club I wasn't going to accept it. When I was back at home I said exactly the same thing.
"On the one hand, I felt like a prisoner to my own words I said in Budapest [the Europa League final venue] that I wanted to stay at Roma. But if you ask me if it's the only reason why I didn't accept the offer, no it's not the only one."
Mourinho didn't specify the other motives.
Al Hilal eventually appointed Jorge Jesus, a very eccentric but also very successful Portuguese coach.
