Fabrizio Romano: 'Tottenham have now verbal agreement with Leicester to sign James Maddison'

According to Fabrizio Romano, James Maddison is almost a Tottenham player, with only medical tests and a few documents remaining to be done.

Romano tweeted: "Tottenham have now verbal agreement in place with Leicester to sign James Maddison, here we go"

"Personal terms agreed, deal ready for £40m fee after talks advanced to final stages yesterday night. Next steps: medical tests, documents being prepared and then signed."

Newcastle was also considering signing Maddison, whose contract with Leicester had only one year remaining. However, the club from the north east has shifted its attention to Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.

This season Maddison scored 10 goals and made 8 assists across 32 appearances for Leicester.
