'Beyond pathetic': Fans slam Premier League for seemingly muting Ivan Toney's name in season comp

The Premier League apparently have muted Ivan Toney's name when releasing a vid with the best goals of the season.

The commentator's speech was quieted down at the moment when the striker received the ball and provided Bryan Mbeumo with the assist.

This has to do with Toney's involvement in illegal betting that has seen him receive a ban from football until January 2024.

Toney was originally charged with 262 breaches between 25 February 2017 and 23 January 2021. The FA then withdrew 30 of these breaches. He has also been fined £50,000 and warned about his future conduct for breaches of The FA's Betting Rules.

Expectedly, some fans are frustrated with this gesture from the Premier League social media.

💭 Roy Beckerson (Twitter): "Fancy muting Ivan's name. Beyond pathetic."

💭 Joe (Twitter): "What's the reasoning behind muting Ivan Toney's name? He's hardly sexually assaulted someone like a certain player for Arsenal has."
