'Bayern title is not good for German football': Borussia Dortmund sporting director Kehl

As few as 71 points was enough for Bayern Munich to clinch their 11th Bundesliga trophy in a row.

Borussia Dortmund had it all in their hands but only managed a 2-2 home draw against Mainz, the equaliser coming too late in the game.

Even at their worst, Bayern are unbeatable in the league, which is not good news for rivals but also for the competitiveness of the league, claims Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

"I don't know if that was a statement from German football today," Kohl said. "I don't think it was good for the Bundesliga overall."

The last time the champion was not a team from Munich starting with a B in their name was in 2011-12 when Borussia Dortmund won it.

Arguably, the league was slightly more competitive in the 00s when Dortmund, Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg each managed a league triumph
