Lamine Yamal apparently scored a crucial goal in Sunday's El Clasico. However, since it wasn't clear if the ball fully crossed the line, it was disallowed after the VAR referee's assessment.
This decision proved costly, contributing to Barcelona's 2-3 defeat to Real Madrid and denting their title hopes.
Yet, La Liga president Javier Tebas still insists the goal-line technology in Spain is..unnecessary.
"Goal-line technology? You cannot pay €5-6m for it every season, when it comes into use only 3-4 times and not perfect – unlike VAR, which is used almost in every match and solves 99% of controversial episodes. Its value is very high compared to the goal-line technology."
Interestingly, the La Liga chief earns a salary comparable to the cost of goal-line technology.
Maybe he should think about a pay cut then? Nobody's perfect, after all!
