There was a moment in the second half of Barca-Napoli where it seemed like Victor Osimhen might've won a penalty off a tackle from Pau Cubarsi.
The Nigerian went over howling in pain after the collision with the youngster. However, a quick VAR check dismissed Napoli's claim.
The game was delicately poised at 2-1 when the incident occurred and Napoli could've had the chance to draw level and give Barca a stiffer test.
It's probably why rival fans have been crying blue murder on X with some claiming Napoli were robbed blind.
@Danizeh: "Clear penalty but"
@ZtnBlanco: "It’s obviously rigged for Barcelona"
@_ayoliadi: "That’s a penalty"
Cyril: "The referee got it wrong"
Adebola: "VAR is favoring Barca"
BlaqMarvl: "Wasn’t VAR implemented for such moments? The quality of refereeing in Europe is getting worse."
Senyo: "Uefalona strikes again"
Asked about the incident Xavi said: “I didn't think it was a penalty. I believe we were better in every department. Our qualification is much deserved.”
Former La Liga referee Mateu Lahoz said, "Cubarsí's tackle on Osimhen could perhaps be called as a penalty kick, but not in the Champions League. That's what I like about the competition, I hope we can learn that in Spain."
Napoli were beaten fair and square on the night. Their penalty shout would've been stupendously harsh if it was given.
