Barca hoping to receive €12m for player they discarded in 2021

In the summer of 2021, Barcelona decided to permanently offload Jean-Clair Todibo. OGC Nice, the club he'd spent a season on loan before, were more than willing to take him. They submitted an €8.5m bid and Barca said 'thank you!'

However, Barca were smart enough to include a 20% sell-on clause on Todibo, thanks to Mateu Alemany. It means Barca will receive 20% of any future sale of the player.

Fast-forward to 2024. Todibo is now worth nearly eight times what Barca sold him for. In September 2023 he broke into the France national team and played a couple of games.

Todibo is now wanted by both Manchester United and Chelsea, per sources in England and Spain. Fichajes claims OGC Nice have slapped a €60m price tag on Todibo.

If Nice can sell Todibo for that amount, Barcelona will pocket €12m. Barca will be hoping they get that money as it could help them secure the signature of a new midfielder this winter.

Todibo has played 14 league games for Nice this season helping his team record nine of their league-high 11 clean sheets. Nice are also five points behind PSG in the title race.
