Haaland beats Messi to UEFA Men's Player of the Year award

Erling Haaland has won UEFA's Men's Player of the Year award.

The Norwegian beat Leo Messi and Kevin De Bruyne in the final vote.

Haaland won the treble with Manchester City last season, having scored 52 goals and provided 9 assists.

Messi netted 21 goals and provided 20 assists for Paris Saint-Germain last term. He won Ligue 1 with PSG and the World Cup with Argentina.

The Argentine is the favourite to win the 2023 Ballon d'Or and FIFA The Best prize.
