Koeman explains how he stopped Bayern from taking Barca's brightest talent

"Bayern were very interested in Pedri," Ronald Koeman tells Relevo.

"I told the club that he was staying, that soon he was going to start, and that's how it was," the Netherlands gaffer added.

Bayern Munich were keenly interested in signing Pedri after beating Barcelona 8-2 in the 2019/20 Champions League. The Bavarians might've paid a record fee to sign the teenager who was pretty much unknown at the time.

However, the move never materialized and Pedri has gone on to become one of Barca's best signings so far.

"When I see Pedri, Gavi, Araujo, Balde... It's a pleasure," Koeman adds.

All the aforementioned players were handed their Barca debuts by Koeman during his time as Barca's head coach.
