Liverpool to enter Ruben Neves race, consider January move (reliability: 4 stars)

Liverpool are in a dire need of a midfielder, and Barcelona target Ruben Neves has appeared on their radar, British outlet the Mirror reports.

Unlike Barca, the Reds are ready to make a move for the Portuguese already in January. Since Ruben's contract expires at the end of the next season, Wolverhampton may be inclined to lower their previous demands of £70m.

Besides, Newcastle United are also rumoured to be interested in Neves. However, they will not make a move until next summer.

As for Barca, they view the 25-year-old as a successor to Sergio Busquets. Joan Laporta likes the player but Xavi doubts Neves's compatibility with his tactics.

This season so far, Neves has played 23 matches (21 starts) for Wolves and has scored four goals.
