'Painful': Pochettino on James red card

Reece James picked up a red card for violent conduct against Brighton after kicking Joao Pedro while on the foul after getting fouled.

This is the captain's second red card this season which means he will miss the Bournemouth game and the first three games of the next campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino said about the incident, as quoted by the Evening Standard: “No I didn’t see. It’s difficult to give my opinion because I didn’t have time to see the action.

“But it’s painful [for us] because it’s a fantastic night of football and he’s a really important player. Now he is going to miss the next game and a few games next season.”

Chelsea won the game 2-1, overtaking Newcastle and taking up sixth position in the league table.
