'He's a player that's doing well': Pochettino opens up about whether Palmer needs new contract

Mauricio Pochettino congratulated Alfie Gilchrist on his contract renewal with Chelsea and was asked whether Cole Palmer also needed a new contract.

"Look, it's good for the player who came from the academy," said Poch in his press conference. "Congratulations to him for the new contract."

He then added: "Second part of your question, he is a player that is doing well [Palmer].

"No worries that the club believe they need to compensate or reward a player, the club is going to do.

"He's playing football, that is why we bring him. He is doing well but always the idea when we sign a player is to perform how he is performing."
