Palmer in line for new Chelsea contract (reliability: 5 stars)

The Telegraph report that Cole Palmer is likely to be handed a new Chelsea contract soon. There are currently no negotiations over a new deal but it is expected that the Blues want to give the Englishman a deal that reflects his status as the team's arguably best player.

There is no rush to get the deal done because the attacker is focused on finishing the season in the best way possible.

Palmer's current deal expires in 2030 so the new deal is not about protecting his future at the Bridge but about rewarding him for his form this season.

The 21-year-old currently earns £80,000-a-week. He has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 24 Premier League matches for the Blues so far this season.
