'Had they gone out for tea? Were they on the wine?': VAR slammed for Mudryk penalty decision vs Burnley

Cole Palmer scored a penalty to open the scoring for Chelsea in their draw with Burnley at the weekend.

The awarding of the penalty and the subsequent sending off for Lorenz Assignon has been criticized by Chris Sutton, who believes VAR had a shocker in having missed Mykhailo Mudryk's alleged dive.

“Mudryk dived," said Sutton. "That was amazing because how the VAR official [missed it]…

"Had they gone out for tea? Were they on the wine? How could they actually miss that?” Sutton told The Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“[Lorenz] Assignon got sent off for a second yellow. [Vincent] Kompany then gets sent off. But Mudryk dived for that. That was utterly ridiculous!”
