Not just Cole Palmer: 3 Chelsea positives to cheer you up

If you look at Chelsea these days, everything looks frustrating. The Blues dropped two points again, this time against 19th-placed Burnley. Half of the squad is injured, Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with a move away and even the reliable Djordje Petrovic dropped a stinker. Even the women's team, which usually gives Chelsea fans some consolation, lost the League Cup final and are second in the WSL table.

So what are the positive things about Chelsea these days? Here's something to cheer you up a bit.

1. Cole Palmer. The first thing that comes to mind. The Englishman is pulling Chelsea forward with his 13 goals and eight assists in 24 league appearances. As per WhoScored's stats rating, the 21-year-old is the 13th-best player in the league.

Palmer seems to have found his new home at Stamford Bridge. It's early days but he has all the qualities needed to become a Chelsea legend.

2. Youngsters keep developing. Malo Gusto and Alfie Gilchrist have really stepped up this season. Misha Mudryk is showing signs of progress, too, even if he remains incredibly raw. Add the lads who are doing well on loan such as Omari Hutchinson and Ian Maatsen and things start looking a bit brighter.

3. Chelsea are actually playing well. Many fans have probably gotten tired with Pochettino constantly talking about statistics but he has a point. Based on expected points, Chelsea should be inside the top six.

The Blues create a lot of chances but can't properly convert them. For example, against Burnley, Chelsea had an xG of 4.11 — enough to comfortably win the game. But the Clarets keeper Arijanet Muric decided to put in a performance worthy of a Yashin Trophy.

There is a solution to Chelsea's finishing issue, and the name of that solution is Victor Osimhen. The Napoli striker reportedly prefers the Blues to other options, even if it means missing out on the Champions League football next season. Osimhen and Chelsea look like a perfect match so the anticipation of his arrival could help us get through the current season.
