How level-on-goals Victor Osimhen and Nico Jackson compare for 2023-24 season

Chelsea have been linked to Victor Osimhen more than any other player over the last few transfer windows.

The Napoli striker's contract was supposed to expire in 2025 before it was renewed and a new release clause was set in the region of €120m to€130m.

Chelsea's own number nine right now isn't having the worst season, as Nico Jackson has scored 9 non-penalty goals in the Premier League.

In fact, Osimhen has the same number of non-penalty goals, with the striker scoring 3 from the spot, taking his total to 12 this season. Both players are tied for assists on 3 each.

One could make the argument that Jackson isn't far off of Osimhen's scoring rate, given he gets more time in the league.

That, however, wouldn't be true. It's because Osimhen has scored his 9 non-penalty goals from just 6.6 Expected Goals (xG).

Meanwhile, Jackson has scored his 9 goals from an xG of 12.6.

This means, Jackson has actually underperformed in terms of the chances he had to score, while Osimhen has outscored his xG, clearly proving him to be the better finished.
