Speaking about Sunday's game, Mauricio Pochettino said: "Cole Palmer gave the ball to Raheem Sterling. I think they have a good relationship from Manchester City.
"When Raheem asked to take the penalty, you can see Cole [give him the ball]. It's not a problem — Cole can miss, Raheem can miss. For me, the decision is theirs.
"I want to always support the decision of my players on the pitch. Raheem missed a penalty and some chances, but I'm happy with him and we are going to support him."
Palmer was ready to take a penalty in the first half against Leicester City on Sunday before Sterling asked to take the spot-kick (which he missed).
After the FA Cup quarter-final clash, that ended 4–2 in favour of Chelsea, some fans interpreted the incident as Sterling 'taking' the ball from Palmer.
