Disasi or Sanchez: who is responsible for spectacular own goal? Explained

One of the most embarrassing moments of the season took place in Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester.

Axel Disasi scored a spectacular own goal, sending the ball into the net under pressure from an opponent.

Robert Sanchez was way off his line, meaning that he also has some responsibility for it. However, his positioning was natural as he offered himself as an outlet to his centre-back.

The replays showed, however, that Disasi never looked up while he was on the ball and passed it blindly. In such circumstances, passing the ball between the goalposts is always a bad idea.

Disasi clearly understood it himself as he collapsed to the ground while the ball flew in the net.

This own goal started Leicester's chase for an equaliser that was completed 10 minutes later.
