Chelsea want Brentford man — he helped them to 16 goals last season

The Telegraph report that Chelsea are interested in signing Brentford coach Bernardo Cueva as the Blues are working on creating a set-piece department.

The Mexican has worked at Brentford since 2020 and has been credited for the Bees' 'innovative' approach to set pieces.

The Bees have conceded the third-fewest goals from set-pieces this season in the Premier League despite Chelsea scoring two against them in a 2-2 draw last weekend from dead-ball situations.

Last season, Brentford scored the second-most goals from set-pieces in the Premier League (16).

Mauricio Pochettino is said to be involved in the process of creating the set-piece department at Chelsea despite him previously saying that football 'belongs to players, not specialists'.
