Chelsea will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they travel to face Aston Villa in the replay of their FA Cup fourth-round clash on Wednesday (7 February).
Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino, he still doesn’t have a fully fit squad available and there are still quite a few important players out with injuries.
With that being said, let’s look at the current injury updates on the unavailable players and when they could potentially return.
Reece James
The Chelsea captain was in attendance at Stamford Bridge to watch his side lose to Wolves, but there is still no affirmative date on when he could be back to action. He has restarted light training after undergoing hamstring surgery, but faces an uphill battle to get fully fit.
Potential return date: Unknown
Marc Cucurella
The Spanish defender had to undergo ankle injury back in December, but was touted to be able to return a few months after that. He’s unlikely to play any part this month, but could be to return in the next few months.
Potential return date: March/April
Levi Colwill
Colwill suffered an injury right before the previous game against Villa and has missed the last three games as a result. Poch has failed to update on when he could be back as the Englishman works on his rehab.
Potential return date: Unknown
Lesley Ugochukwu
Ugochukwu actually got injured the loss to Wolves on Christmas Eve but was not expected to miss a lot of action due to that. He could be returning later this month if everything goes well.
Potential return date: February/March
Robert Sanchez
Sanchez has been bugged with a knee problem for quite some time now, allowing Djordje Petrovic to take up his place in the starting lineup. There is still no definitive date on when the Spaniard could return from injury.
Potential return date: Unknown
Romeo Lavia
Lavia has been reduced to making just one appearance for Chelsea since his move from Southampton last season. He has been plagued with injuries and is currently working on recovering from a thigh injury.
Potential return date: Unknown
Wesley Fofana
Fofana is reportedly being considered for an end-of-season return by those at Chelsea as he works on regaining fitness after suffering a horrible knee injury in pre-season. He could be back for the final few games of the season, as it stands.
Potential return date: April/May
