According to The Athletic's Simon Johnson, Chelsea will shift their focus from targets like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney to other strikers.

Chelsea were prepared to go for a new No.9 in January, but no credible option was available, so the pursuit will resume in the summer.

However, Osimhen's wages will prove prohibitive for the wage structure Chelsea are aiming for. Toney, meanwhile, will turn 28 years old in March which does not fit with the club's transfer strategy.

As a result, Chelsea are more likely to pursue the likes of Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface — even though the transfer fee will be massive in any case.
