According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Chelsea have made contact with Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.
The 24-year-old had a difficult experience in Barcelona, making just five appearances for them between 2019 and 2020.
However, he is now one of the best centre-backs in Ligue 1. Todibo is part of a Nice defence that has conceded just nine goals in 17 league games.
As a result, Chelsea have joined Tottenham and Man United in the race for Todibo, who has previously planned to stay at his current club until the end of this season.
Chelsea are claimed to be unhappy about their defence. They have conceded 31 goals in 20 Premier League games.
The Blues have signed a few defenders from the French league, including ex-Monaco duo Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi, and right-back Malo Gusto from Lyon.
