5 players 'admired' by Chelsea ahead of January window — but transfers unlikely (reliability: 4 stars)

Chelsea have no shortage of players they would love to sign in January. However, it is going to be difficult for many reasons, according to the Evening Standard.

Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, Antonio Nusa, Ousmane Diomande and Viktor Gyokeres are all quoted as players 'admired' at Stamford Bridge.

However, none of these players is likely to leave their current clubs in January.

Signing a striker will be especially problematic as every potential option is prohibitively expensive. Besdes, Osimhen has just signed a new contract with Napoli, Toney is just nearing return from an eight-month ban, while Gyokeres will not push for a move barely months after joining Sporting.

Instead, Chelsea will have to focus on departures. Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen will be actively shopped out, while Conor Gallagher can also be sold for the right fee.
