"I don’t want to lose him. I hope, and think, he’ll be a Brentford player on February 1," Brentford head coach Thomas Frank told the Evening Standard about Ivan Toney who has been linked with Chelsea over the past few months.
"Everyone saw what he did last year. It’s not like he broke a leg or did his ACL, so he’s fit and probably even more ambitious to get success. I’m convinced he will be absolutely on it."
Ivan Toney returns from his eight-month betting ban on January 17. However, he has been subject to transfer speculations for months while he has been absent, with Arsenal and Chelsea emerging as the two clubs most interested in him.
Chelsea, in particular, are desperate for a proven striker, despite all the potential of Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja. Still, getting Toney away from Brentford was never going to be easy.
