Despite being impressed with Conor Gallagher's performances this season, one Chelsea fan on X would bench him when the Blues are up against teams who play a low block.
"Always thought Gallagher was underrated but I’ve still been impressed by how much he’s improved this season, however, I still think he should be viewed more as a tactical weapon," Chelsea fan Johyan writes.
"His pressing work is arguably the best in the world so he suits bigger games, but against low blocks he doesn’t have that elite on-the-ball ability.
"This is fine btw, not every player in the squad has to be world-class, Giroud for example was an excellent plan B option for certain game states, that doesn’t mean you’d want him starting every week."
Gallagher has been superb for Chelsea this season, but the entire team seem to struggle when faced against sides that defend with 10 men and wait for counterattacks.
Good examples are games against West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Brentford. Chelsea lost all those games. Against teams that come out to play, Chelsea performs a lot better and avoids defeat or even win, as seen against Spurs, Arsenal and Man City
Bench Conor or not, one thing is clear — Pochettino must find a way around a low block.
