As a result, the Blues have drawn up a shortlist of potential striker options. It's likely to include Montpellier’s Elye Wahi and Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic as both have been contacted by the club.
Wahi scored 19 goals in 33 Ligue 1 games last season and has a host of offers. Chelsea have already started exploratory talks over his transfer.
Vlahovic has been linked with Chelsea for a few months already, with Juventus prepared to sell him for £68m.
