Julian Nagelsmann rejected the opportunity to coach Chelsea because he doesn't believe the club has a good short and long term project with their American owners in charge, according to the reliable Sport1 in Germany.
After another round of talks this week, Nagelsmann informed the Chelsea owners on Thursday that the job on offer was out of the question for him.
The German manager claims the Chelsea project doesn't have a 'solid footing' and presents too much of a risk for his reputation after talking with Todd Boehly and the other bigwigs at the club.
Chelsea will now focus their attention on getting Mauricio Pochettino or Vincent Kompany. The likes of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho are not in the running for the big job but Chelsea could look their way.
Last week, former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique also pulled out of the race for the job as he was disappointed with the owners for giving the interim job to Frank Lampard rather than appointing him immediately. English sources say Enrique's an outsider for the big job at SW6.
