Stats show 4 things Jorginho is better at than nearly every PL midfielder

There's a reason why Pep Guardiola wanted Jorginho in 2018 before the Italian decided to follow his ex-Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, to Chelsea. The Blues were happy to part with €57m for the transfer.

Despite winning multiple titles since then, including the Champions League, Jorginho still isn't everyone's fan favourite at Chelsea.

However, stats show he's absolutely superb in four areas.

1. Passes attempted. Jorginho attempts an average of 75 passes per game. That's better than 95% of midfielders in Europe's top five leagues - not just England.

2. Pass completed. The former Napoli man hardly misplaces his passes, as has been proven by stats - he completes 89.8% of his passes which is better than 92% of midfielders.

3. Progressive passes. The 30-year-old makes 6.04 progressive passes per game. Again, that puts him better than 91% of midfielders in Europe's top 5 leagues. Thus, he doesn't make as many sideways and backwards passes as many fans think.

4. Interception. Jorginho makes 2.53 interceptions per match. That's higher than 92% of midfielders were able to make over the last year.

Jorginho is not the glittering midfielder everyone wants him to be, but stats show he's quite a technical player who can help his team make a difference in games. That's without even mentioning his excellence at taking penalties.

The closer a stat is to 100, the better a player is at this component than others in his position. Jorginho's standout stats are highlighted in yellow
