Romano names 3 left-backs Chelsea are targeting for January, shares 'plan B' in case of no transfers

Chelsea are 'considering options' to replace the injured Ben Chilwell for the remainder of the season, as per Fabrizio Romano.

He has named three players - these are Sergino Dest of Barcelona, Everton's Lucas Digne and Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax.

Digne is prepared to leave Everton and 'first approach' has been made with his camp. Dest is 'appreciated' but a transfer isn't in the advanced stages yet, while Tagliafico 'has been discussed weeks ago'.

The 'plan B' for Chelsea is to recall Emerson Palmieri or Ian Maatsen. The latter is a 19-year-old currently on loan with Coventry.

Chelsea will first try to get one of their preferred targets and if that doesn't pan out, then recalling one of the two left-backs is the backup option.
