'Form is ignored, certain players are guaranteed spots': Wright on Gallagher, Tomori England snubs

Ian Wright is unhappy to see Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher, ex-Blue Fikayo Tomori and a few other players miss out on England's squad for November's fixtures.

"I've been there where form is ignored and certain players are guaranteed spots!!" Wright wrote on Twitter.

"It's hard to take because there is nothing else you can do.

"I don't know what Tomori needs to do get in and get a chance. Cresswell, Bowen, White, Gallagher will all be gutted."

Southgate's refusal to call up Loftus-Cheek, Chalobah and Gallagher has infuriated many Chelsea fans.

James, Chilwell and Mount made the 25-man list.

'He was doing everything': Vieira, Wright, Zaha applaud 'brilliant' Gallagher after shock win v City

Crystal Palace got a shock victory against Man City on Saturday. Conor Gallagher won the Man of the Match award for his fantastic performance.

The Chelsea loanee dispossessed Laporte and assisted Zaha for the opener and then doubled the Eagles' lead shortly before the final whistle.

A showed of praise awaited the midfielder after the game.

"I think both of them, like the rest of the players, worked really hard," Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira said of Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha, as quoted by the Metro.

"We knew that coming to City we’re not going to have the possession, so we have to work really well as a team and we couldn’t allow ourselves to have one player not taking part in the defensive work."

Ex-Palace striker, England legend Ian Wright applauded the Chelsea loanee.

"This is brilliant from Conor Gallagher," he said on Match of the Day, as quoted by Metro, "because he’s cutting off Laporte’s left foot, he wants him to go inside, bam!

"Pep’s saying they gave it away- no, Palace sucked them into that trap.

"Again you look at Conor Gallagher, he goes into a position where we know that Man City like to play in that area, Bernardo Silva’s there, cuts it out again.

"And they did that all day, the plan was perfect. He was everywhere, he was doing everything."

Wilf Zaha, who linked up with Gallagher for both goals, serenaded the young midfielder too.

"[Conor] brings a lot of energy," he said, as cited by the Metro.

"Obviously, playing up top I needed people to link up with. He gets up and down which makes a lot of difference, when he gets up and helps out."
