3 tactical experiments Tuchel could surprise Arsenal with on Sunday

Chelsea are set to travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the pre-season Mind Series tournament. The game kicks off on 3pm UK time on Sunday.

Thomas Tuchel could very well try out a few tactical experiments to make sure he gets the best out of this Chelsea squad.

And we at Tribuna have decided to take a look at how the Blues could line up against the Gunners.

Note that several players such as Thiago, James, Chilwell, Mount, Emerson and Jorginho are still on vacation, while Azpilicueta and Christiansen are unlikely to be match-fit, having only recently returned to training, so we haven't included them in our lineups.

Four at the back

There are murmurs about Tuchel switching from a back-three to a more attacking back-four shape.

This could be a surprise for Arsenal as they probably expect us to line up with three at the back.

This could be a last-chance saloon for Davide Zappacosta and Danny Drinkwater. The former spoke of his desire to impress Tuchel, while the latter was absolutely spectacular against Bournemouth with his accurate long-range passing.

Two strikers up front

Thomas Tuchel deployed the 3-5-2 formation in the second half of the B'mouth game, pairing Broja and Ugbo together.

The strikers' duo ended up winning the game for the Blues, and it would be interesting to see if they can be as dangerous against a more high-profile opposition.

Ziyech on right wing & Kai as false 9

Hakim's best football for Chelsea came when he played on the right-hand side, allowing him to cut inside and shoot with his deadly left foot.

With Hudson-Odoi supporting him with overlapping runs (he played right wing-back v B'mouth), we could finally see the Ziyech we've all been waiting for.

It would be interesting to see how this plays out if Tuchel instructs Kai Havertz to play in a false 9 role.

The German did it to a devastating effect last season, almost single-handedly destroying Crystal Palace and Fulham. Perhaps it could work out well against another London side?

What do you think?
