Chelsea eye 'Austrian Peter Crouch' Sasa Kalajdzic as cheaper alternative to Haaland (reliability: 5 stars)

The Athletic, normally a reliable source, claims that Chelsea are keen on signing Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

The Blues 'admire' Erling Haaland but understand signing him this summer would be extremely difficult.

Tuchel's side are also interested in signing Harry Kane but the deal will prove to be difficult because of the Blues' rivalry with Spurs.

Another option is Romelu Lukaku, who is unlikely to re-join Chelsea because of the £100m asking price, and Danny Ings, who has indicated his desire to leave Southampton this summer.

Kalajdzic stands at 6ft 7in (200cm) tall. He is the tallest player in the Bundesliga and has been called 'Austria's Peter Crouch' in the press.

The centre-forward impressed at the Euros, scoring against Italy in the Round of 16 clash. Last season, the 24-year-old scored 16 goals in 33 Bundesliga games.

Stuttgart will ask around £34m for the target man as they are under no pressure to sell.
