Mikel Arteta shares blunt response to David Raya's error in Spurs win

David Raya gifted Tottenham Hotspur an easy way back into the game as his error allowed them to bag their first goal in the second half.

Until then Arsenal were leading 3-0 and had the game in the bag. Granted, Raya made some great saves but mistakes at this level could prove rather costly.

He left an open goal and Cristian Romero made no mistake finding the back of the net. They added another one via a penalty and also supplied an own goal for Arsenal.

The Gunners are lucky Spurs did not find another goal before the final whistle - a draw would have been devastating to Arsenal's title chances.

When asked about Raya's error in the post-match interview, Mikel Arteta's face hardened and he bluntly replied: "I don’t like the principles that we apply in that moment and the orientation of the ball."

Raya has been solid throughout 2024 and perhaps it's the weight of higher expectations on his shoulders.

Regardless, this is still a huge win for Arsenal as their fight for the Premier League title remains as open as ever.
