'Really happy': Arteta explains what he loves about Gabriel Jesus' contribution to Arsenal amid fan criticism

Gabriel Jesus produced a solid outing for Arsenal in the 3-0 win over Brighton, winning the penalty scored by Bukayo Saka.

Despite being a real team player who has slotted into unfamiliar positions in recent weeks, Jesus has attracted some criticism for fans for his lack of goal output and fitness issues.

Despite that, Mikel Arteta was all praise for the Brazilian after the game and said: “I was really happy. With the task he had, especially with the way they attack down the sides we saw the opportunity for him to score in certain moments.

“He had a couple of chances there that he could have converted. But his contribution, the individual action that he does for the first goal to win that penalty tells you that we are getting him back. He’s fitter as well and he can have a huge impact on us.”

The 27-year-old has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions this season.

He has plenty of experience of winning the Premier League title, having done it multiple times with Man City, and fans will hope he can replicate that to charge the Gunners to win the championship in May.
