Ivan Toney to Arsenal may not happen in January - here's why

Arsenal's hopes of signing Ivan Toney in January may not happen this January. This was after his Brentford teammate Bryan Mbeumo was ruled out for 12 weeks due to injury.

Thomas Frank confirmed today that he will have an ankle operation: "Bryan is a positive guy. Everyone that gets a setback, it’s always tough to take, but he will come back stronger."

In the absence of the suspended Toney, Mbeumo has been the club's talisman with seven goals and three assists so far. 

However, his injury could see Brentford hesitate to allow Toney to leave next month amid interest from Arsenal. The Englishman who was banned for eight months over betting offences will play competitively again in January 2024.
