Why Chelsea refused to overpay for Declan Rice — revealed

Arsenal faced competition from other Premier League sides in the race to sign Declan Rice this summer.

Chelsea were interested in the West Ham midfielder but they ended up backing away from the transfer due to the fee.

According to the Telegraph, the Blues believed that the the Hammers were putting 'an English premium' on the 24-year-old's price tag.

Still, it did not stop them from signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton for £115 million shortly after Arsenal finalised a £105 million transfer for Rice.
