Ollie Watkins once admitted to being an Arsenal fan who dreams of playing for the Gunners one day.
Speaking at the 2020 London Football Awards, the then Brentford striker said: “That’s the dream, to play for Arsenal one day. But, you know, it’s a long shot.
As well as supporting the club as a child, Watkins also revealed that he idolises Thierry Henry. “I’m an Arsenal fan so Thierry Henry was my [idol] he’s unbelievable to watch. He was the idol growing up really.”
Now at Aston Villa, Watkins is one of the hottest strikers in the Premier League. The Englishman scored two goals in the 3-0 win over Newcastle United.
He now has 11 goals in his last 10 games after a remarkable turnaround under Unai Emery. Watkins has now equalled his best season in front of goal (14) in seven less games.
