'A wonderful dilemma': Carragher comments on Saka vs Rashford England place competition

Speaking to the Telegraph, Jamie Carragher said: "Gareth Southgate's changes [against Wales] reflected England's security in the group. To go deep in the competition it is imperative players are rested.

"Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka will have had over a week off by the time they meet Senegal on Sunday. Mason Mount, who is responsible for so much of the high pressing in the line-up, will also be fresh.

"At the same time, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden brought the freshness everyone anticipated. They have given Southgate a wonderful dilemma. Whether they start or not, the manager knows they are in the right shape."

Rashford replaced Saka on the right side of the attack against Wales on Monday, scoring twice to help England progress to the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

Up next for the Three Lions is a knockout clash against Senegal on Sunday and Southgate will have to choose between the Manchester United and Arsenal men.
