How Ben White transfer could affect Saliba, Niles & 3 other Arsenal players

Arsenal are said to be very close to signing Ben White as the Gunners are negotiating final details with Brighton.

The right-sided centre-back comes as a replacement to David Luiz, who leaves the Emirates on contract expiry.

And White's arrival will have a knock-on effect on several players as the Gunners will have too many centre-backs with him joining the squad.

William Saliba. The Frenchman could reportedly be loaned out or even sold as he apparently is not considered good enough for first-team football at Arsenal.

There is a chance he could stay and fight for his place though. But he needs either Chambers or Holding to be sold to stand a chance of playing for the Gunners next season.

Rob Holding. The Englishman signed a long-term contract with the Gunners a few months back. Mikel Arteta rates him and he'll most likely stay as a back-up to White. We can't exclude him leaving though as there are reports he could be sold if a good offer arrives.

Calum Chambers. The 26-year-old recovered from injury and put in several decent performances at right-back last season.

But Ben White seems to be his direct replacement. A home-grown right-sided centre-back who can play right-back and holding midfielder, good with the ball at his feet... This applies to both White and Chambers, and Ben's arrival would make things difficult for Calum.

It has to be noted that there have been practically no rumours linking Chambers with a summer exit from the Emirates. His versatility could see him stay at the club.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles. While Hector Bellerin is expected to leave the club no matter whether White signs or not, Ains' future is not that clear. But with Chambers, White and possibly Cedric all ahead of him in the pecking order at right-back (and a new RB possibly arriving later), we don't see him staying at the club beyond this summer.

Cedric Soares. The Portuguese is undoubtedly a quality player but Arteta barely used him last season. While he has 3 years left on his contract, White's versatility could see Arsenal telling Soares he is no longer needed.
