7 players for whom 2021-22 will be make-it-or-break-it season

Arsenal have a massive transfer window in front of them and it's hard to say how exactly the squad will look like when it's over. Nevertheless we'll try - because we are sure some of the players who'll stay will be fighting for their future. Here's who we think those might be.

Bernd Leno

The German had his worst season in our colours. Some high-profile and costly mistakes were mixed with extremely dodgy distribution when passing out from the back. We are pretty sure he'll stay but if Arsenal end up signing Onana, Leno can't afford to have another under-par season.

Rob Holding

Our most consistent centre-back, yet there's competition for the spot and at least William Saliba and Calum Chambers will be chomping at the bit. If Rob lets his grip slip, it might be his last season at Arsenal.

William Saliba

We are not sure what's going on with him but what we are sure of is that he needs to play. Saliba is young and talented and can't be wasted away for another season - he'll leave us next summer for sure if he's not given a proper chance.

Calum Chambers

He was impressive at right-back but lacks mobility to make the position his own, we think. So he needs to either break through at centre-back or maybe even central midfield. If he doesn't, we can't see Calum staying beyond the upcoming campaign.

Nicolas Pepe

He's had a decent season but he needs to build on that. It's already tough going for the Ivorian because Bukayo Saka leapfrogged him in the pecking order - another season on the fringes might warrant a sale next summer.

Gabriel Martinelli

Found himself marginalised through no fault of his own, much like William Saliba. The Brazilian will be eyeing up that left-wing spot, which currently has no fixed starter - but if Arteta limits his game time again, we are sure Gabi will explode and had in a transfer request.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

It's so strange seeing the skipper in here - who could have predicted this a year ago? Yet here we are, Auba has just had a torrid campaign and there are whispers he can even be let go this summer.

We don't think it's likely but Auba needs to come up with the goods next season. He's on the wrong side of 30 and will have a year to run on his contract next summer. It's now or never for the striker.
