Granit Xhaka's sudden link with Roma looks plausible alright and there are many fans happy to see the back of the Swiss. But not this particular Gooner on Reddit - he explains why.

Selling Xhaka is great if we get 3 of Bissouma, Anguissa, Berge, Camavinga, Aouar, etc. But we all know we don’t have the money to do that (and I doubt we have the competence to get them over the line either).
"We’re selling in a buyer’s market and we don’t have the resources to replace what we’re losing. The best case scenario sounds good but the most likely scenario is that we end up losing Guendouzi, Torreira, Xhaka, Elneny for far less than we should.
"Then we’ll end up battling to get Bissouma until the last day of the transfer window, settle for someone boring like Diawara as backup, and end up playing Chambers in CM during the African Cup of Nations...
"Also can we please just buy a backup LB. I’m not seeing many realistic links and it feels like we’re about to go into another season with the same gaping holes in our squad."
