Play the kids and 4 more takeaways from Burnley loss

1. Granit Xhaka is not a leader

He might have been handed the keys to the house by his parents despite Taulant being the older brother but we are starting to suspect this reflects rather poorly on Taulant and not that well on Granit. In short, the parents were probably choosing the lesser of evils.

Xhaka's act of brainless stupidity is nothing new though. He gets wound up easily and we know that, we've seen it countless times. He was there to make peace with Alioski after the latter baited Nicolas Pepe but nowhere to be found when Neal Maupay sent Bernd Leno to hospital.

Xhaka cares only about himself, the image he projects. He let the team down badly, his footballing quality is dubious and he should not be considered a regular and relied upon anymore. Hertha, are you still interested in a January transfer?

2. Unrest among seniors is in the making?

Chris Wheatley suggested that there's a dressing room riot cooking and it's being led by David Luiz - who is unhappy about his diminishing role. He adds that Sokratis and Mesut Ozil, two influential figures, are certainly not pulling their weight behind the manager after being ostracized.

The good news is, however much influence the trio has, all are out of contract this summer and, let's face it, given their recent on-pitch contribution, none will be missed.

The bad news is, we still have months of football to play before that and a lot of damage can be done in that time - especially if Luiz, Ozil and Sokratis have the ear of some seniors Arteta is relying on: like Xhaka, Willian and Alex Lacazette. Which leads us to...

3. Play the kids

No one is bigger than the club. If any, or all, of Luiz, Sokratis, Ozil, Xhaka, Willian and Lacazette think they know better and can undermine the team just to get what they think is right for them, they can all do one.

Some of them will be out of contract (like mentioned above - good riddance), Xhaka, Lacazette and Willian can all be sold or at least benched in the immediate future. Once again, their contributions are dubious to say the least - they are in a position to make demands.

We would honestly rather see those younger players who shined in the Europa League and are ready to fight for the badge given the chance. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and even the inconsistent Nico Pepe all look better options right now.

4. Mo Elneny needs to have a look in the mirror

He was lucky not to get sent off for doing something very similar to Xhaka (inside our own box too!) and with places in the team now for grabs, we hardly think Mo can afford to be brainless.

He looks to be a humble, hard-working and honest chap - something that can't be said about half the team at the moment, so we are hoping this was just a one-off incident. God knows we might need him very soon.

5. The creative spark needs to be addressed ASAP

Arsenal had a better night in terms of carving out chances but the lack of midfielders able to progress the ball by means of dribbling or incisive passing is startling.

Bukayo Saka is one of the few shining lights and we know that Smith Rowe, Nelson, Pepe and even Ains are able to do that. Play two of the four instead of Willian and Lacazette and see where it leads to, Mik.
