Kanu is on cloud nine after Auba signed a new deal
"Auba’s signing a new contract is great news for all Arsenal fans and the club itself," the legendary striker said in an interview with NationSport.
"A lot of clubs really wanted him but for him to make up his mind to sign a new contract means he really loves the club; knows all what the club is about and he wants to be part of the club’s history which is good for us as a team.
"Since he is the captain of the club, his stay means he wants to do more for the club. I want to wish him the best because he has shown commitment which other players would be motivated and want to emulate him; I’m particularly happy about this development."
Wenger's best winter signing
When Arsene Wenger was asked on beIN Sports to name his best winter transfer he said: "Maybe (Nwankwo) Kanu. In the middle of the season. That had a big impact and he was a huge player."
Believing in Arsenal against all odds
When we were tenth in the table in the middle of last season, the Nigerian backed the Gunners to finish in the top four.
"Why not? Who says we can't?" Kanu told Goal when asked about Arsenal's chances of securing a Champions League spot. "The first thing Arsenal must do is make good selections and don’t lose games.
"We have good strikers and that can help us win games. If we can beef up our defence and nobody scores against us then that is a plus. When we start winning; the confidence level will be very high."
Would've advised Iwobi to stay at Arsenal
“It was a surprise to everybody because it happened right at the end of the window,” Kanu told Goal when Alex Iwobi moved to Everton last summer. “If I knew earlier, I could have said to him not to go and that it was better for him to stay.
“I would have said that there was no need for him to go because at Arsenal he will still play. He’s that good and he needs to know that.
“I think Arsenal would have been the best place for him because it’s a big club and you want to play in a big club and in Europe. Those are the games you want to play.”
