No coronavirus cases at Arsenal despite 3 positive tests at West Ham

All Arsenal players and staff have tested negative for coronavirus, reveals The Athletic's David Ornstein. The latest round of checks took place on Monday, two days after the Premier League matchday 2 game against West Ham.

Many were concerned about the Gunners after it was confirmed by West Ham on Tuesday evening that 2 players, Issa Diop and Josh Cullen, as well as manager David Moyes, tested positive for the disease.

The West Ham trio are currently self-isolating while their League Cup clash against Hull City went ahead as planned, with their assistant manager Alan Irvine taking Moyes' place on the touchline.

In March, Mikel Arteta became the first big football personality to contract the novel coronavirus. No Arsenal players got the disease, although Dani Ceballos revealed back in April that some Gunners showed symptoms of the virus.

Following the spike in numbers in the UK, all football events were postponed and a mandatory lockdown introduced – with the Arsenal boss diagnosis arguably playing a positive role in the country's response to the first wave of the pandemic.

Now in September, with the second wave becoming an increasingly tangible threat, all plans for fans' return to stadiums have been shelved by the latest government's decision.

On Tuesday, a League Cup tie between Tottenham and Leyton Orient was cancelled as the League Two side reported several coronavirus cases.

The Gunners are scheduled to face Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. The game kicks off at 7.45pm BST and you can read our complete preview while you're waiting for the evening showdown.
